After the second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R., hosted by Purdue, the women's golf team still sits in 16th place. Their score of 320 on the second day gives them a 639 after the first two rounds, nine strokes behind the 15th place Southern Methodist University. The University of Alabama now leads the field with a combined score of 582.

The two-day tournament will once again be played at The Heron Bay Golf Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., on Feb. 12-13th. All eleven Big Ten teams will be attending, including the reigning champion, Indiana.

The 56th-ranked Penn State men's tennis team (4-1, 0-0) picked up a 5-2 victory over the Maryland Terripans at the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday. With the victory, the Nittany Lions have now defeated Terps for a second consecutive season.

The Penn State Lady Lions (15-8, 7-6) led by as 15 points and forced 25 turnovers, but a late 17-4 run by No. 8/9 Ohio State (23-3, 11-2) gave the Buckeyes an 86-73 win at the Bryce Jordan Center Sunday. The Buckeyes were unstoppable from three-point range, knocking down a Big Ten record 17 threes and shooting 65.4% (17-26). Penn State has lost its last four games and pushed its losing streak against the Buckeyes to 11 games.

The 17th-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team topped No. 23 Illinois on Saturday evening with a season-high score of 196.425 to 196.275. Senior Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) won the all-around with a career-high tying score of 39.600.

M. Basketball. Nittany Lions Fall On Last Second Shot To Minnesota, 66-64
Talor Battle (Albany, N.Y.) tied the score at 64 with nine seconds remaining in regulation, but Minnesota's Lawrence Westbrook responded with a game-winning jumper as time expired to hand the Nittany Lions a heartbreaking 66-64 defeat at the Bryce Jordan Center. Battle's 20 points led the way while David Jackson (Farrell, Pa.) netted 18 and Chris Babb (Arlington, Texas) added 12.
